Barely 12 hours after the results of the 2012 UTME were released, jamb has now completely shutdown its official website (www.jamb.org.ng) owing to the inability to serve the millions of requests to candidates nationwide. The website initially experienced a dragging performance as the news of the result released gradually filtered into the internet airspace and going viral. The total shutdown came just hours after the official announcement by the Jamb Registrar, Prof Dibu Ojerinde, to newsmen in Abuja. As at the time of writing, the website still remained down as we believe the Jamb I.T. team are trying to get the portal back online. Rumours coming in from our sources say that another portal with a different website is likely to be launched for the result checking only. We're closely monitoring all the assumed portals and we can assure you that once the portals are back online, you'll be the first to know.

Indian grandmother, 78, is believed to be the world’s oldest professional sharpshooter. The world’s oldest twins celebrated their 102nd birthday together on Wednesday. Born on January 4, 1910, Ena Pugh and Lily Millward have spent each of their birthdays together. They were presented with copies of the Guinness World Records book, which includes their entry. More from the Daily Mail: Lily’s proud daughter Dianne Powell, 65, told Wales News Service: ‘My mum’s recovering in hospital after she slipped and fell just before Christmas. But she’s in good spirits and enjoying the attention of being one of the world’s oldest twins. ‘Ena pops in to see her in hospital when she can – they are very close. And despite the terrible weather she made a special effort to get together on their birthday.’ The English twins were born before the beginning of World War I, and they still meet up for weekly shopping trips and talk on the phone nearly every day. Lily Millward said “laughter and having a joke with each other” has been the secret to their longevity. “We used to work on the farm all day, but we would enjoy ourselves,’ Millward said. ‘It was a lot of fun and sociable. We’ve been very lucky and we have always had good health.” And the twins manage to get by without some modern technological innovations, including central heating. “Until my mum’s accident, they would jump on a bus on their own every Friday so they can go shopping together and have a chat over a cup of tea,” Powell said. “And they ring each other almost every evening although they are both very hard of hearing— they can’t really always know what the other is saying but just enjoy talking to each other.”

At 78, most pensioners are reliant on the glasses to even read a newspaper. But not Indian grandmother Chandro Tomar. With a £1,200 pistol in hand, and her sari draped over her long silver hair, it’s believed she’s the world’s oldest female professional sharpshooter. She has entered and won over 25 national championships across India as well as raising six children and 15 grandchildren. She said, “I wanted to do something useful with my life and show people my capabilities. “As soon as I shot my first pistol I was hooked. And now I’ve shown everyone there are no disadvantages to my age. If you’re focused you can do anything.” Almost 10 years ago Chandro took her granddaughter to a local firing range in Johri village, in Uttar Pradesh, India. She wanted to learn a new skill but was too shy to go alone. In the end it was Chandro who was welcomed into the club with open arms. “As I was waiting around I decided to have a go. The coach spotted me and was amazed at my aim,’ she said. ‘He told me to come back so I did. Initially I was just supporting my granddaughter but I enjoyed it so much it became a passion and I looked forward to going to the club every week.” While Chandro tended to her daily chores on her farm and raised her family, she practised her aim whenever she could using stones and throwing them at water bottles. The club’s coach, Farooq Pathan, who set up the shooting club with two friends in 1998, said, “I was surprised when I saw a pensioner in our group but she picked it up pretty quickly. “She was so good some of the men stopped turning up altogether to avoid being humiliated by her, an old woman. She has the ultimate skill, a steady hand and a sharp eye.” And now she’s a national treasure, known throughout India for her skill, even winning gold at the Veteran Shooting Championship held in Chennai. But her biggest fan is her daughter Seema, who is also an international shooting star becoming the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Rifle and Pistol World Cup. “She is amazing,” she said. “If she can do it, then so can we. She showed us that anything is possible. She has helped so many of us improve our lives. “Many members of the club have gone on to even find jobs with the military, and police force, because of her encouragement.” Chandro had an experience with the police herself, proudly beating an officer at one competition. She said, “I defeated the DeputyInspector General (DIG) of Delhi police. It was brilliant.” But medals or no medals, life at home never changes for Chandro and she still cooks, cleans and cares for herfamily, making sure dinner is served before firing some bullets down at her local range and helping to carve out future success stories from the club.

The full Potter's Wheel: Summary, General information about the literature: The Potters Wheel, published by Chukwuemeka Ike, told the story of an only son, Obuechina, shortly called as 'Obu'. He was the only Son of Mazi Lazarus (Mazi Laza) and Misus (Mama Obu), after they had five daughters and prayed fervently to have a boy. Obu was born and another girl was birthed after Obu. Obu, known by his 'large head' while he was four, didn't want to go to school, but the parents, suspecting that he would be brilliant at Academics, turned no listening hear at him. They had fondly believed that his large was a tanker of brains. As if they knew it, Obu was making first position in his classes and they made pride with it. Obu, being the only child was mother's favorite and apparently spoilt, because the mother would not want him to undertake any of the domestic chores. Misus always shared all the works among the girls. Only two weeks before Obu would be Nine, Misus (Mama Obu) raised worries about Obu, as observers and spiritualists had warned that Obu was an Ogbanje boy. Misus quickly contracted Nwomiko, a reputed Ogbanje Saviour woman, to help deliver Obu from the Ogbanje world. Mazi was not wholly part of the decision because of his church catechist. Misus prevailed and Nwomiko was brought in to deliver Obu. According to Nwomiko, Obu had signed to die at his Ninth birthday (only two weeks), but she delivered Obu. Obu survived. Mazi, desirous of Obu's success, sent him to live with a strict Teacher Zacheus (Zach) and his wife, Madam Deborah - a barren woman, strict alike. The decision was to make sure that Obu grew up responsibly. Obu and Misus objected, but Mazi prevailed. At Teacher's house in Aka, Obu met an entirely new set of characters and situations. He would not be pampered like his mother did back home at Umuchukwu. He adjusted but didn't find it easy. Several things changed about him, but he maintained his brilliance in his Academics. Mazi, one year later, sent a visitor, Madu, to check on Obu, but Obu held the advantage to return home with Madu. He never wished to return to Aka. His mother, sisters and friends were happy at this development, but his father advised him to return. Obu protested, but his father gave him a brief anecdote with examples of two persons who were age-mates. One was a success story and the other was an example of an undesirable end. Mazi asked Obu to choose amongst the two. Obu liked the successful man in Mazi's analogy. Mazi told him that the same strict Teacher Zacheus trained the Successful man. On 4th January, 1944, Obu voluntarily returned to live with Teacher Zacheus at Aka, being desirous of same success story as told him by Mazi, his father. There is Chapter-by-chapter analysis, questions and answers on THE POTTER'S WHEEL for free but I don't know if the admin will allow me post the link.

FIRE DISTRUPT ACTIVITIES AT UNILAG. AN early morning inferno, on Tuesday, disrupted academic activities at the Faculty of Science, University of Lagos, Akoka. The arrival of fire fighters from the University of Lagos Fire Service, Yaba College of Technology Fire Service, Federal Fire Service and Lagos State Fire Service prevented the fire from spreading. The fire, which reportedly started around 6.30a.m., was first noticed in the office of the secretary to the Head of Department of Physics. It ravaged the secretary’s office and spread to the HOD’s office from where it moved to other offices on the floor where the Physics department is located. The fire also gutted the Mathematics Department before the combined team of fire fighters finally put it out to the delight of hundreds of students, who had started arriving for lecture. The incident caused panic among students who had 7 o’clock lecture as many of them scrambled out of their classrooms. It also put a temporary hold to an early morning test that was due to be conducted in one of the physics classrooms as the office of the lecturer, who was due to conduct the test, was burnt Kingrobert Emukpoaruo, an assistant registrar in the university, confirmed the fire incident while the image maker in charge of the state police command,Joseph Jaiyeoba, informed the Nigerian Tribune that the police had commenced investigations on the circumstances leading to the inferno.

A MAN CLAIMS HE KNOWS THE MAP TO HEAVEN. A self-proclaimed prophet from Mandeni, in KwaZulu-Natal, claims he has been to heaven four times, according to a report on Monday. Sibusiso Mthembu, 64, said there were 11 heavens and he had drawn a map of them, the Sowetan newspaper reported. Mthembu said he had his first heavenly journey in December 1998. The other three journeys took place in 2004, 2006 and 2008. On his return, he drew a map of heaven and its residents. “An angel, whom I later realised was Gabriel, who was in his early 20s, appeared at my house and led me by the hand to the Mandeni River where he baptised me and he returned to heaven,” Mthembu told the newspaper. He said the same angel arrived in 1998 and this time took him along to heaven. Mthembu said he had seen God, Jesus and angels during his journeys. Mthembu had written several books documenting his heavenly experiences, according to the newspaper.

Places where people live the longest and Top 10 Hotspots for Human Longevity. In 1513, Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de León set sail in search of Bimini, a mythical land said to house a spring that restored youth to anyone who drank from it. After scouring the Caribbean and Florida, he returned empty-handed, and the Fountain of Youth remained undiscovered. Perhaps he was just looking in the wrong place. As part of their data collection for the World Factbook, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) combs through death certificates, recording race, gender, cause of death, and other factors to estimate the life expectancy of a nation's entire population. Calculating the average life expectancy of the world's total population at 67.59 years, the CIA has determined which societies live longer. 1.Monaco Average Life Expectancy: 89.68 years Residents of Monaco live, on average, 5.25 years longer than the second longest-living nation, Macau; that's approximately a decade longer than the average American. 2.Macau Average Life Expectancy: 84.43 years Like several other nations on this list, Macau can attribute its high life expectancy, at least somewhat, to its fruitful economy. But why this tiny nation in the South China Sea is so prosperous might surprise you: Gambling is its main source of revenue, and 70 percent of the money generated on the casino floor is reportedly invested by the Macau government in public healthcare. 3. Japan Average Life Expectancy: 83.91 years Japan boasts an impressive obesity rate: 3.1 percent compared with 33.9 percent in the United States. Much of the credit is owed to the Japanese diet, which revolves around fresh vegetables, rice, and most importantly, fish. Fresh fish is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, which promote healthy blood pressure levels and reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. 3. Singapore Average Life Expectancy: 83.75 years A sound diet and a clean environment contribute to the longevity exhibited by the population of this fast-paced city- state, located on the southern edge of the Malay Peninsula. 5. San Marino Average Life Expectancy: 83.07 years Europe's third smallest state--behind Vatican City and Monaco--and the world's oldest republic has a life expectancy that trumps the United States by 4.5 years. Money plays a major role here, as it does in both Guernsey and Andorra, but another key ingredient could be the nation's work environment. 6. Andorra Average Life Expectancy: 82.50 years Several factors may explain why Andorrans outlive residents of other countries. First, this tiny nation, sandwiched between France and Spain in the Pyrenees mountains, promotes an active, outdoor lifestyle. 7. Guernsey Average Life Expectancy: 82.24 years This small island in the English Channel is not a member of the United Kingdom or the European Union, despite being a British crown dependency. Its independence means Guernsey has not been affected by its neighbors' flailing economies. 8. Hong Kong Average Life Expectancy: 82.12 years Hong Kongers can expect to live nearly four years longer than Americans. Like Italians, people from Hong Kong can partly attribute their longer lives to their diet--rice, vegetables, and tofu are staples--and active lifestyle. 9. Australia Average Life Expectancy: 81.90 years Australia's long life expectancy can be attributed to several factors, including relatively low smoking and obesity rates, as well as an active lifestyle enjoyed by its citizens. But many Australian medical experts insist that the secret to Aussies' longevity is universal healthcare. 10. Italy Average Life Expectancy: 81.86 years Italians live an average of 3.37 years longer than Americans. Many experts draw a connection between their longevity and diet--which is more than just pasta, meat, and cheese. The Mediterranean diet is credited with lowering the risk for all sorts of diseases.

How to Stop Intrusive Thoughts Are you a victim of bizarre thoughts running constantly in your head? Do these thoughts eat away your peace of mind? If yes, then it's time you took control of everything that bothers you, and stop the ever intrusive thoughts. Let's begin with a string of essential questions. Be honest in your reply, and remember: no one will judge you, but yourself. ⇨ Are you obsessed with keeping everything spic-and-span every single time? ⇨ Do you constantly fuss about the way things appear around you? ⇨ Do you constantly arrange and rearrange things for no apparent reason? If you have answered in an affirmative to any of these questions, you may be plagued with Intrusive Thinking and distinctly bordering on OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). Constant fear of harming someone close can definitely cause even a sane person to behave insane. Though you might not really harm someone close to you, your thoughts could play havoc with your own body. Think of the amount of harm you are causing yourself by simply fussing over your thoughts. How to Get Rid of Intrusive Thoughts How to stop fretting about petite things and live a normal life, is a question worth answering. One of the foremost things you need to do, if you wish to rid yourself of these thoughts, is to bring about a shift in attitude and approach in the way you visualize things around you. Pen Down your Thoughts Why do you have to think of the thought? Well, when you want to stop thinking about a thought, you would have to ask yourself few questions; and the reason we insist on doing that is to find answers. Consider it as a task for yourself. Pen down the reason for dwelling on the thought; and the cause behind the obsession. Note down how it affects your overall health and development. Accept your Thoughts When we talk of a shift in approach, the first thing recommended is that, you change the way you perceive your thoughts. It won't be an easy task to incorporate, but, it definitely is worth a try. Acceptance comes from understanding yourself. To put it in better words, I would like to quote Nido Qubein who says, "Total unconditional acceptance of yourself is the first step in building a positive self-image". Begin with accepting the disturbing thoughts, rather than constantly trying to suppress them. Change the Way you React In real life, the way you react to a particular situation determines the final outcome. The same policy should be applied to your thoughts. Irrational fears can be controlled only if you change your reaction towards it. Concentrating on the positive aspects rather than the negative aspects is a good way to initiate the change. Purge the Thoughts What most people do is, continue thinking about the problem when all you can do is 'nip it off in the bud'. The root of negative thinking stems from being too serious about things. Do not rule out the chilled-out factor here; research shows that individuals who laugh off misfortunes and negative ideas are people who are relatively more relaxed and peaceful and live a considerably stress-free life. Become Aware Whenever you are tormented with negative thoughts, try concentrating on your breathing. Listen to your own heart beats for a change, by placing a hand on your chest and varying with shallow to deep breathing exercises. Seek Professional Help If you still find yourself being bogged down with incessant thoughts, it's time you rushed to get some qualified help in your situation. Approach a good counselor or therapist who will aid you in your distress. If you do not wish to seek professional help, you can discuss your problem with a trusted friend who would be able to guide you on the road to recovery.

D'BANJ AND MO'HIT CREW JOINS ILLUMINATI:- Eventually there’s undeniable explanation that Nigerian megastar entertainer, D’Banj, and other members of Mo’Hits record label lead by bountiful producer, Don Jazzy, are 100 pc confirmed members of the uber-evil secret cult, the Illuminati. The certain proof was offered by artists of the record label themselves, causing Nigerians to philosophically comment that ‘they have used their own hands to do themselves.’ The proof in query is a video clip produced by the record label in which D’Banj, Don Jazzy, Doctor Sid, Wande Coal and an unidentified man dance like gay men to D’Banjs’ new hit single, Oliver Twist. Doctor Zen Solonso, a Zen expert and a leading name on everything Illuminati, analysed the video and exposed all of the concealed Illuminati symbols in it. According to him, one of the largest objectives of the Illuminati is to turn everyone gay this is the reason why their known members like Kanye West, dress like Gay men. It might be remembered that D’Banj and Don Jazzy have just signed on to Kanye Wests’ record label.

Real Madrid have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after making short work of CSKA Moscow with a 4-1 win in their second-leg clash at the Santiago Bernabeu. With the tie still on a knife edge after a 1-1 draw from the first encounter in Moscow, a Cristiano Ronaldo brace alongside goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema proved enough for Jose Mourinho's men to comfortably see off the threat of the visitors on their way into the last eight. Zoran Tosic's brilliant effort with 13 minutes remaining was nothing but bitter consolation, as the Russian outfit crashed out of the competition by a 5-2 aggregate scoreline.
